After upgrading to the 2012 version of SolidWorks, Brian told us that the Design Library Folder was missing from his Task Pane. He was expecting to see it as per the image in Fig. 1:

Instead, his Task Pane looked like the image shown in Fig. 2:

Fortunately the procedure for “getting back” the Design Library Folder is pretty simple. Just watch this video:

I used the second method in the video:
Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations
ComboBox “Shows folder for:” Design Library
Click Add, and browse to c:\ProgramData\Solidworks\Solidworks 20xx\design library
The first method does the same:
In the design library tab, click “Add File Location” button (two buttons left of “Refresh/Reload” button), and browse to c:\ProgramData\Solidworks\Solidworks 20xx\design library
