“The Golden Fish Story” or “All SolidWorks World 2010, 2011 and 2012 Presentations Are Available for Download”

Long, long time ago (in January this year), a very smart SolidWorks user was fishing at the Javelin Blog for tips and tricks when he caught the Golden Fish. The fish promised granting one wish (the biggest tech tip of the year, of course). The conversation continued:

The Smart User: “I want to go to SolidWorks World in San Diego, so I can attend all those amazing training sessions. I heard that they will have over 200 presentations to choose from.”

The Golden Fish: “I can send you to San Diego, but be aware that you will be able to attend maximum five presentations every day. You will not have time for more.

The Smart User: “That’s too bad, but I still want to go. I want to see the amazing Partner’s Pavilion and to go to the CSWP party and to see the dancing snake and to attend Eric’s presentation on Piping Design using E3 Wireworks.

The Golden Fish:“But are you aware that they scheduled the conference during Valentine’s Day? Are you sure your loved one will allow you to go?”

The Smart User: “Oh, noooooo. I cannot go away on Valentine’s! My loved one would never forgive me. What can you do for me then? I still want to see all the presentations!

The Golden Fish: “That I can do. And you know what? Because you are such an amazing SolidWorks user, I will open for you my treasure box containing all the sessions from 2010 in Anaheim, 2011 in San Antonio and 2012 in San Diego. Just click on one of the images on this page and you can watch any presentation you want.

And this, my friends, is the best tech tip you can receive in 2012 – the link to a million tech tips from some of the best SolidWorks users in the World. Enjoy!

Vote on your favorite ideas for improving SolidWorks

Great News – the voting has been opened for new ideas on improving SolidWorks software!

It is probably the best opportunity for us, the users, to make our voice heard by the product definition groups at DS SolidWorks. The top ten ideas (based on our votes) will be presented at SolidWorks World 2012.

Historically, over 85% of the enhancement requests on each year’s top ten list are implemented in future releases of SolidWorks. So vote on a favorite enhancement you would like to see and it may just show up in a future release.

To access the voting page you have to be a SolidWorks subscription customer with a forum account on http://forum.solidworks.com.

SolidWorks 2012 Teaser

The 3rd day of SolidWorks World 2011 was the day when users were teased by getting a glimpse of some of the enhancements that might be included in the next version. Since SolidWorks 2012 is still in development, there are no guarantees that they will actually be included in the final release later on this fall.

What a treat! Watch all the presentations from SolidWorks World 2011

At the end of SolidWorks World 2011 I was suffering from information overload. After each general session in the morning we could attend a maximum of 4 other presentations until the end of the day. It was very hard to choose between more than 150 presentations knowing that you could see only 12 of them live.

Fortunately, starting today, we have access to all of them - both in PowerPoint and video formats.

While the PowerPoint slide-shows can give you a good idea about the topics of the presentations, I strongly suggest watching the videos. Not only you will get more information from the presenter’s comments, but you can listen to the interaction with the audience. There are some great questions and equally good answers in each presentation.

Another reason to become a CSWP – you get invited to cool parties!

Amie provided quite a few reasons for getting your CSWP/CSWE certifications in her article. She forgot to tell you that your certificate is also the only ticket that can get you into exclusive parties at SolidWorks World.

Are you as excited as I am? SolidWorks World 2011 starts this Sunday, the 23rd!

This is the first instalment in a series of articles covering SolidWorks World 2011

Not too long ago, when we were kids, we used to count the sleeps to Christmas; two more nights and Santa would come. I have the same feeling now – just two more days and we will be joining more than 5000 SolidWorks users in the greatest 3D design, simulation and product development conference and exhibition show on Earth in beautiful San Antonio, Texas.
