SolidWorks® Enterprise PDM
Product Data Management for the Enterprise
SolidWorks Enterprise PDM is a product data management (PDM) software solution based on proven technology that can be deployed in a fraction of the time required for other enterprise PDM systems. Helping organizations to manage and share product data more effectively and automate workflow to allow better collaboration from engineering to the shop floor, resulting in better products, lower costs, and faster time to market.
Do you need enterprise data management?
- Are there more than five people who need to access CAD and other types of company data and documents?
- Are your design teams spread out at multiple locations?
- Are company processes managed with simple automated workflow?
If the answer to any of these questions is YES then your company would benefit from using SolidWorks Enterprise PDM
Easy to implement and use
Javelin Technologies gets customers up and running in under a month. Most implementation and training projects take 8 to 10 days of work over 30 days. SolidWorks Enterprise PDM works inside of SolidWorks® software and AutoCAD® software as well as Windows Explorer. Includes a single window interface with SolidWorks® and AutoCAD® (other integrations include Solid Edge® and Autodesk® Inventor™ software)
Features and Benefits
SolidWorks Integration
Seamless integration with SolidWorks promotes teamwork across design teams. The built-in automatic notification capabilities will inform, remind or alert team members, when a file has been modified or its status has changed.
Windows Integration
The first and only commercial engineering document management system entirely integrated within Windows Explorer. You can perform all functions with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM either through Windows Explorer or one of its CAD integrations. As a result there is no proprietary interface to learn, making operation simple and the software one of the easiest and least expensive ways for a company to implement product data management (PDM).
Secure Access
Enables authorized personnel to access the most current design information, quickly, easily and from anywhere. This ensures that the right data is presented to the right user at the right time thereby reducing errors.
Full Document Preview
In addition to the ability to manage any document type, the built in viewing capabilities support the viewing, including zoom and print, you can preview over 250 different file types. These file types include SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Edge, PDF, Microsoft Office, images, animations, movie files and many others
Find and Re-use Design Data
The robust search capabilities make it easy to find documents based on their names, contained data, attached metadata, workflow state, etc. These searches can be predefined, saved and shared to one or more users. Once the desired document is found it can easily be reused in new designs.
Template Manager
A powerful wizard based template manager that allows for automatic folder creation with assigned user rights is included. Additionally, this feature can also be used for automatic generation of forms such as ECN, letters, faxes, etc. This provides companies with classification and standards control which can be tied to project based numbering schemes and automatic title block links.
Distributed Design
The globalization of design teams requires that current design data be immediately available to all team members regardless of location. SolidWorks Enterprise PDM satisfies the need for additional enterprise scalability and support for document/drawing vault replication over a WAN for multi-site, multi-national companies.

Automated Approval Processes Workflow
The workflow functions enable users at local and distributed locations to become active participants in product development, design reviews, engineering change orders, quote approval and other product-related processes. Workflow diagrams define the paths of documents and related information through the various processes along with responsible individuals and their access rights (read, modify, approve, etc.). Automatic notifications prompt workers on actions required at specific stage gates while an overview of project status shows managers bottlenecks.
Audit Trail
Throughout the lifecycle of your technical data the system tracks and records every event, each workflow, and every version that impacts the data set. The audit tools record who did what and when, and how and why each change was made.
ERP/MRP Connectivity
A fully featured COM based programmer's API is included. Using this API the system can be integrated with most any other system.
