Basic file management for individual users
Available at no cost, SolidWorks Explorer is the only CAD file manager that’s as intuitive as Windows Explorer, providing easy management for SolidWorks files. SolidWorks Explorer includes SolidWorks Search, which provides the ability to search all SolidWorks files whether located locally, in a Design Library, on the network, in the SolidWorks Workgroup PDM Vault, or in user generated content on the web in 3D ContentCentral.
SolidWorks Explorer is available to both SolidWorks and non-SolidWorks users.

SolidWorks Workgroup PDM Contributor
SolidWorks Explorer can also access SolidWorks Workgroup PDM vaults providing your product design team with the ability to share files and data more easily. The SolidWorks Workgroup PDM Contributor allows non-CAD users such as manufacturing and purchasing staff members to access and add documents to the vault, thus providing non-SolidWorks users with cost effective access to all the capabilities of SolidWorks Workgroup PDM. Controlled access to project files benefits all members of your organization and simplifies collaborative efforts.
