Industry: Nuclear

Previous CAD: Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, and AutoCAD

Products used: SolidWorks Premium, SolidWorks Simulation

Goals

The company specializes in the design, analysis, and testing of complex mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems. To compete in this fast-moving field, Hytec had to be able to quickly produce designs and integrated analyses of products. As a result, Hytec needed a fast and flexible CAD program.

Solution

SolidWorks CAD software provides us with the flexibility and ease-of-use that we required to meet our customers’ needs. The ability to manage large, complex assemblies with hundreds of components was a key factor in our selection. We have assemblies with hundreds of components, yet we are still able to work quickly, integrating the components as design changes occur. With SolidWorks CAD software, all the associated hardware changes are updated automatically. The performance of SolidWorks, based on the cost expended, is unsurpassed in the industry. We previously worked with Pro/ENGINEER and AutoCAD, as well as Unigraphics. Parametrics, the ability to do mass analysis, a quick learning curve, compatibility with other systems, and great tech support are just some of the reasons we converted to SolidWorks CAD software. We also use the integrated package SolidWorks Simulation extensively to quickly analyze our design concepts.

Results

  • Improved management of large assemblies
  • Accelerated analysis time through integrated applications
  • Realized unsurpassed performance at an affordable price

We have used Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, and AutoCAD in the past. We are able to match and surpass these best-of-class products using SolidWorks CAD software
