Goals

Tsubaki chose SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software because it fit the firm's business, making customer-designed and customer-specified parts, many of which are variations of a fundamental part. The software also enables Tsubaki to to serve customers who want to download their product data and make their own drawings.

 

Solution

SolidWorks helps Tsubaki to meet its own and its customers’ needs. With the SolidWorks configuration management capabilities Tsubaki can automate the production of variant designs, saving time. In addition, Tsubaki uses 3D PartStream.NET, as an online, interactive database to provide customers with the configuration and part information they want, quickly and easily. Customers can use their configuration and part numbers to pull up their data from 3DPartStream.NET in order to generate their own models and drawings, again quickly and easily. And Tsubaki’s manufacturing engineering department can also download customer specifications from 3DPartStream.NET to produce drawings and technical documentation for manufacturing. Because SolidWorks is compatible with a wide variety of systems, it’s easy for Tsubaki to send files back and forth to customers without having to worry what platform they are one.
