A Design Automation Evaluation & Mentoring Program
A structured training program in the use of DriveWorks Design Automation software to allow companies to evaluate for themselves the value DriveWorks can bring to the organization. Guided by Javelin's DriveWorks Application Engineers, you will learn how to use DriveWorks Engineer to design and create an application to automate your own designs.
Each week an assignment is given to be completed for the next class, building up to a completed application and presentation of the project to the class of peers.
Target Audience
Engineers and Designers at companies that produce Engineer To Order products, that would use DriveWorks Engineer in the Design Office.

Course Outline
You will participate in five Friday sessions over a five week period:
Session 1 - Software installation & Basic Training

DriveWorks installation on your machine (if using a laptop), otherwise learn the installation process on a training machine.

Discussion on the principles of DriveWorks operation i.e. how SolidWorks connects with databases, tables, and knowledge capture.

Learn how to build a simple application that uses an assembly.

Learn the best modeling approaches for DriveWorks including configurations.

Install and demonstrate DriveWorks File Manager since during this process you will be moving your applications between your work machine and the classroom.

Assignment - select a small assembly for use in next class.
Session 2 - Group Discussion - Issues & Methodologies

Review group models and project ideas.

Discuss and white board approach for each example.

You will build a basic applications.

Assignment:

Collect other info/examples of required outputs (e.g. what other company documents you might want to create).

Collect databases or spreadsheets to be used.

Session 3 - Group Discussion and Advanced Topics

Review group extra documents and data.

Discuss and white board approach for each example.

Learn output document preparation and DriveWorks integration.

You will build an advanced application (from the initial basic one).

Assignment: Collect metrics - how long manually/current method vs. using DriveWorks.
Session 4 - [Optional] Support Day

Javelin DriveWorks Application Engineers available all day for support questions on site at Javelin Technologies office.
Session 5 - Presentations, Project and Benefits

You will demonstrate your completed project.

Identify benefits to their company.

ROI discussion/examples.

Critiqued by your peers for improvements or modifications.

Assignment - Present your solution to your company upper management.
