About Advanced FDM in GrabCAD Print:
There’s no need to “dumb” your CAD files down to an STL format any longer if you’re a Stratasys 3D printer user. Building upon GrabCAD Print’s ability to read CAD files natively, the new Advanced FDM feature enables fine level control over how FDM parts are manufactured. The latest release in GrabCAD Print now enables Advanced FDM to read and select native CAD features from your CAD files. This includes native features, such as surfaces, holes and internal bodies.
Advanced FDM in GrabCAD Print is more intuitive and efficient than Insight and allows you to create more targeted structures. It’s not a complicated software. By simply selecting areas on the design model and specifying desired results, Advanced FDM automatically calculates the required tool path for all layers to produce the required part.
For example, in this latest release, you can now select which regions of your file to apply different levels of rigidity, strength, infill pattern, density, and wall thickness. This guarantees that your FDM printed parts come out exactly how you want — not to mention, specifying your structural needs will ultimately cut down on print time and material cost.
