A SOLIDWORKS ID is your own account to access great content like the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal, MySolidWorks, and SOLIDWORKS Forums.
A valid email address must be used as a verification email is sent. Anyone can create an account and have guest access to limited content. If you or your company has a SOLIDWORKS product license on active subscription, the account can be registered to unlock all features.
Create a SOLIDWORKS ID Account
To start, read our article how do I create a SOLIDWORKS ID / Customer Portal Account
Unlock a SOLIDWORKS ID Account
When you first create an account and enter a valid serial number with active subscription, the Customer Portal should automatically be unlocked and provide full access. In some scenarios the account may show small lock symbols beside some links and prevent access. This indicates you have Guest access without registering an active license.
To learn how to unlock your account, follow the steps in our article Unlocking features in the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal
If you’ve had an account that was previously registered but has become unregistered, read our article explaining why it requires a re-registration.
Administration invitation required for accounts with Admin Portal
If someone at your company has accessed the SOLIDWORKS Admin Portal to assign licenses to particular users, anyone attempting to register an account will be presented with the following screen. Check with colleagues and administrators at your company to see if someone has access to the Admin Portal to invite you as a member and become registered.
SOLIDWORKS ID Troubleshooting
- Log In Fails: If you’ve created an account but are unable to log in, try the Forgot Password link on the log in page. An email should be received with steps to reset the password. Check any spam/junk folders on your local machine as well as your company email servers if you do not receive the email.
- Unable to Unlock Features: Ensure you have selected the row of the latest version available from the pop-up window when using Register My Products. You should select the newest version when registering even if you are using an older version of SOLIDWORKS.
- If an account is fully registered but still showing the locks there may be some older cached data. You can clear your browser cache or try another browser.
- Another useful method for testing is opening an Incognito Window in Chrome, an InPrivate Window in Edge, or a New Private Window in Firefox. These windows ignore past history/cached data.
