If you need quick measurements from your model, you don’t always have to launch the Measure tool. Selecting edges or faces will give you simple values in the Status Bar at the bottom of your screen. Depending on what you select, you can find some useful information. NEW in SolidWorks 2015 is the ability to select cylindrical faces. Here are a list of selections you can use for a quick measurement.

Select a VERTEX to get its Cartesian coordinates:
Select a VERTEX and a LINE to get the normal distance between:
Select TWO VERTICES to get the distance and the delta X, Y, Z:
Select ONE EDGE to get its length:
Select TWO PARALLEL EDGES to get the normal distance and total combined length:
Select TWO NON-PARALLEL EDGES to get the angle between:
Select MULTIPLE EDGES to get the total combined length:
Select a CIRCULAR ARC EDGE to get the radius and the center Cartesian coordinates:
Select a CIRCULAR EDGE to get the diameter and center Cartesian coordinates:
Select TWO PARALLEL PLANAR FACES to get the normal distance:
Select TWO NON-PARALLEL PLANAR FACES to get the angle between:
