Conception et impression 3D de tees de golf avec SOLIDWORKS et les imprimantes 3D Stratasys

In this article I’ll quickly describe how we design and 3D print golf tees using SOLIDWORKS 2015 and a Stratasys Polyjet 3D Printer. We will explore the entire product lifecycle from original conception, all the way through to design and manufacturing, and finally testing and final use.

With the use of SOLIDWORKS for engineering design, and Stratasys 3D Printers for manufacturing and rapid prototyping we can instantly see the benefits these tools give us in the form of simplicity, as well as time and cost efficiency. We can conceptualize and design our golf tee within a matter of minutes (a few minutes more and we can generate multiple revisions and configurations of our initial design).  After some quick 3D modelling we come up with the following simple but elegant design:

Once we’re happy with our design we simply save this out as a STL (STereoLithography) or AMF (Additive Manufacturing Format) file so our 3D Printer can recognize and print our product.  Within a few hours we have our first golf tee prototype completely manufactured and ready for testing and use:

I would say that using this 3D printed tee took at least 5 strokes off my game, and increased my drive by at least 50 yards (may be a slight exaggeration, but it was a lot of fun to play a round with!).

We will be continuing to have fun with this project, coming up with new designs and more durable tees.  Here are some more tee designs we have already printed and tested.

This entire process took only a few hours, a timeline that would have been inconceivable by using traditional design and manufacturing methods.  Of course this is a fairly simple product, however it is still able to show us a slight glimpse into the endless advantages and possibilities that are attainable by utilizing SOLIDWORKS and 3D Printers.
