Comment modifier les motifs d'esquisse et/ou les polygones d'esquisse ?

SOLIDWORKS is known for being able to go back and edit just about anything you create. When there are limitations to the program, we can create an Enhancement Request. However, most of the time we just don’t know how something can be done. This was my case for how to Edit Sketch patterns as well as Sketched polygons. Instead of learning how to edit these items, I would always delete, recreate, delete, recreate…
Understanding why it might seem difficult:
In SOLIDWORKS sketches, you simply have to click the sketch entities to see the corresponding options in the property manager. For example:
- Click on a sketch line > see options to make it construction, infinite length, etc.
- Click on a sketch spline > see options to make it construction, show curvature, spline points number, etc.
When it comes to a sketched polygon or sketch pattern, we must understand it is a combination of multiple items (sketch entities). So, we must think more in the mindset of editing 3D features. Which would be to Edit Feature…or in our case, Edit Pattern/Polygon.
How to Edit Sketch Patterns and Polygons in SOLIDWORKS Solution:
We will use this simple demo file showing a Linear Sketch Pattern.

Linear Sketch Pattern
Method 1- Control via Patterned Sketch Relations
- Double Click the Patterned Sketch Relation
- Double Click the Patterned Sketch Relation
- Property Manager for Display/Delete Relations will be seen. Right click the Patterned relation in the list and select Edit Pattern.
- Change necessary parameters via the Property Manager
Method 2- Control via Sketch Entities
- Right click a sketch entity that belongs to the pattern
- Select ‘Edit Linear Pattern’
- Change necessary parameters via the Property Manager
Method 3 – Control via Sketch Entities and Tools menu
- Simple left click a sketch entity that is being patterned
- While the entity is still selected, go to Outils > Sketch Tools > Edit Linear Pattern
- Change necessary parameters via the Property Manager
Special Tidbit:
If Dimension spacing and Display Instance Count is checked, then you can control the total instances and spacing dimension directly from the sketch (without the property manager). Simply double click the dimension in the sketch and modify.
What about POLYGONS???
Sketched Polygons are essentially preconfigured circular patterns of lines. Thus, the thought process and solution would be quite similar.
Method 1: Same as Sketch Pattern Method 1
- Double Click the Sketch Patterned sketch relation for the Polygon
- Right Click the Patterned relation in the property manager
- Edit Polygon
- Edit Polygon
- Right Click the Patterned relation in the property manager
Method 2: Same as Sketch Pattern Method 2
- Right Click a line of the Sketched Polygon
- Select ‘Edit Polygon’
- Select ‘Edit Polygon’
Method 3: Yep, you guessed it! Same as Sketch Pattern Method 3
- Left Click a line of the Polygon
- Aller à Outils > Sketch Tools > Edit Polygon
- Aller à Outils > Sketch Tools > Edit Polygon
