A great free tool available to all SolidWorks users to help them design products that are more environmentally friendly is SustainabilityXpress which was introduced in SolidWorks 2009.

The life cycle assessment tool looks at a product’s entire life, which encompasses ore extraction, material production, manufacturing, product use, end-of-life disposal, and all of the transportation that occurs between these stages.

If you are interested on how companies are now using this fantastic product, check this article about how a Danish company optimised the development of its new blister-packaging machine using SustainabilityXpress.
