As I wrote in the article introducing the new functionality for creating Bounding Boxes in SolidWorks 2013, companies involved in 3D Printing can now save support material and printing time by determining the smallest stock size needed by the model.

The same advantages will be enjoyed by machine shops by saving machining time and reducing waste.

In this video I am showing different procedures involving the use of a bounding box for re-orienting the model in order to minimize the stock size.
