Geostar IconThis particular snippet of information has slipped by me in the past few years, so I am certain that most folks are unaware that COSMOSM (GEOSTAR) is no longer available in the 2016 release of SOLIDWORKS. The retirement year for this dated product was 2015 with installation files for the product no longer included within the installation media for SOLIDWORKS 2015 nor any of the 2016 media.

As of the SOLIDWORKS 2015 release, COSMOSM (GeoSTAR) is only available via download from the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal Downloads and Updates page and has been discontinued. To access the download file select a prior version of SOLIDWORKS from the downloads page menu as shown below:

If you were a COSMOSM user, the warning that was displayed upon startup of the 2015 release should appear familiar.

“COSMOSM will be discontinued after the release of SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP5 and will no longer be enhanced , supported, or available in subsequent releases.”

If you are hunting for one last whiff of nostalgia, here it is below, the unchanged interface available in the GeoStar 2015 release:
