SOLIDWORKS PDM Error: ‘No database is connected to this view’ Adobe Reader XI (11.0.7)

When using SolidWorks Enterprise PDM the ‘No database is connected to this view’ error message may appear when opening a PDF from multiple folders using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.7). This error appears to be triggered by the Protected Mode option in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.7), which is enabled by default.

Resolving the error

This issue can be addressed by disabling Protected Mode, or by reverting to an older version of Adobe Reader. To disable Protected Mode, from the Edit menu in the Adobe Reader, select Preferences.

From Security (enhanced) deselect Protected Mode.
