SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2021 increases your control over the default mesh settings for new Simulation studies.

Accessed in the menu through Simulation > Options, the default settings provide numerous options to configure studies before they are created.

Shown below are the default mesh settings for SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2020:

Blended Curvature-based Mesher

In SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2021, we can set new studies to use the Blended curvature-based mesher, under Mesher Type. We also have the new option to Mesh all solid bodies with solid mesh, which will treat sheet metal shell elements and weldment beam elements as solid elements. With this option selected, it is still possible to mesh using a mix of solid, shell and beam elements by right-clicking the Parts folder in a study and selecting Treat all sheet metals as shells or Treat all weldments as beams.

The default plot options have been supplemented with the ability to set a default mesh quality plot type. Under Default Options > Plot > Mesh Plot, select from the additional Aspect Ratio or Jacobian Ratio options in the dropdown menu, for both Mesh Contour plots and Mesh Diagnostic plots:
