SOLIDWORKS PDM Error: ‘Failed to extract add-in’

If you’ve recently upgraded to Windows 10 and you’ve received a SOLIDWORKS PDM error: ‘Failed to extract add-in…’ you’re not alone.  This can be caused by the SOLIDWORKS PDM add-in being built with .NET Framework 3.5 and Windows 10 only has .NET Framework 4.5 enabled by default. That is great news, but before you rush out and upgrade your operating system it’s always a good idea to check if your business software is compatible, or if an upgrade is coming soon.
