As a follow-up to Scott’s great article on DraftSight and what to do if your installation has expired – I thought I should highlight another great resource PDF that the DraftSight Team had posted on the DraftSight Blog.
The image below is a snapshot of that PDF flowchart that focuses on any issues surrounding the activation of DraftSight, and what settings are required if your IT group has employed security settings that are preventing you from activating DraftSight online.

Tried everything on the flow chart (no automatic detect, no config script, no proxy) including uninstalling and installing a new copy.
It comes up with an error dialog box reading:
“Please reactivate the product to continue using it.”
When I click “OK” (the only option), the program closes.
Searched forums and found other people had a similar problem.
Well Warren, you are definitely not alone there.
I too have been through the flowchart and tried more variations on the theme than one can imagine…all to no avail.
SolidWorks has no preoblems, but Draftsight simply can;t figure out whatever it has to figure out. Dumb software.
Don’t know if you solved this already but I will leave this for anyone who searches for this issue…
I solved my problem by deleting all files located in the \Profiles\ Directory under:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight\Default Files\
or
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight\Default Files\
Actually this is not enough, after some trouble I run TCPVIEW (from Sysinternals) and discovered that although I’ve proxy configured Draftsight attempts a direct connection to 168.75.151.72… a reverse IP lookup and it is draftsight.com site.
You need it to be open in the LAN.
