With the release of SOLIDWORKS Visualize in 2016 DS SOLIDWORKS added an incredibly powerful true to life rendering tool to the Innovation Platform. Visualize makes it as easy as a drag and drop to get jaw dropping, realistic images out of your CAD system, and even though it is very easy to use…they’ve made it even easier to create animations from an existing motion study in SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2017!
Grabbing your Motion Study from SOLIDWORKS
The first step to creating easy and great looking animations is to open the assembly that has the motion study attached to it, you can navigate to the motion study to verify it is working in an expected manor but it is not necessary.

Open Assembly with Motion Study
Next we need to turn on the new SOLIDWORKS Visualize Add-in for SOLIDWORKS 2017, we can do this by navigating to the Add-in menu under Options and turning on the Visualize Add-in

Open Add-in Options

Turn On the Visualize Add-in
With our Visualize Add-in active we can navigate to the new SOLIDWORKS Visualize Tab on the Command Manager and select Export Advanced

Visualize Command Manager tab
From here we want to select the Motion Study we would want to export, for this example the study is called Perspective:

Choose your Motion Study and Export
Once we click OK, SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2017 will automatically open and import the study. Notice that all the key framing has been automatically added from the export and we are ready to add some appearances and Environments and render out the animation.

Now that we have our animation in SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2017 we can easily set up our render and get a quick result, here is an example of the finished product.

And as a bonus we can also utilize this tool to import Gravity studies as well, This is huge as it is near impossible to key frame gravity by hand.
