What’s the traditional way of creating a structure or an assembly of parts that make up a frame? If you answered create parts individually and create an assembly, I have some news for you!! SOLIDWORKS includes a feature called Weldments!

Weldments work at part level and require minimal time to create frames of any sort!

How do Weldments work?

To get started, all you need is a sketch, either a 2D or 3D will work depending on your requirements.

Then create a profile, standard profiles come with SOLIDWORKS such as tubes, channels, pipes, angles and much much more! More-so creating custom profiles is a breeze and can use your very own custom profiles in frames!

After you have the profile you want it’s as easy as selecting lines and assigning members.
