Without a doubt, one of my favorite tools is SOLIDWORKS Assembly Visualization. It provides different ways to display and sort an assembly’s components in a list and in the graphics area. One area where you can benefit from using this tool is improving the performance of your SOLIDWORKS large assemblies.

There are three SOLIDWORKS Assembly Visualization properties that can help you to find the culprits of slow performance in a large assembly. These are:

  1. SOLIDWORKS Rebuild Time (SW-Rebuild Time),
  2. SOLIDWORKS Open Time (SW-Open Time) and
  3. Total Graphics Triangles (Graphics-Triangles)

With SOLIDWORKS 2018 the Assembly Visualization tool has been enhanced. Now you can show all three properties at once by pressing a single button in Assembly Visualization tab to troubleshoot the slow performance of your assemblies. To Show these properties simply click on Performance Analysis button in Assembly Visualization tab and it will show those properties as three predefined columns as you can see in this picture.
