SOLIDWORKS Treehouse is a great application where you can generate new assembly structures or open existing assemblies to visualize the layout. This is found under Start > SOLIDWORKS Tools > SOLIDWORKS Treehouse.
Previous versions only had the tile tree view. While this is a great visual tool, the tiles would make it difficult to see all of the information such the full filename. You can hover over the tile to see the full filename.
List View
SOLIDWORKS Treehouse 2018 introduces a new List View which shows the referenced components similar to File > Find References in SOLIDWORKS. However this list gives you more information and control.
You can right-click on the component icon to open a file in SOLIDWORKS.
Custom Properties
This also includes columns of all the Custom Properties found in each component. There was a Custom Property icon on each tile in the previous view, however this is a powerful way to see every Custom Property of all components. You can right-click on any column to select which items to show/hide. Columns can also be reorganized.
This list view can then be exported to Microsoft Excel.
Copy Component
Double-clicking on a component name allows you to save a copy with a different name and/or modify the destination folder as needed. You don’t need to rename if the destination folder is different, though it’s always recommended to avoid duplicate files with the same name. The upper level component must have a new copy created before you can create a copy of a lower level component. Any components that are not created as a separate copy will be still be referenced in the new assemblies. The new documents with be highlighted in green.
