Hide and Show Components in Multiple SOLIDWORKS Display States

Display States are great for various graphical representations of a model.  If you have multiple SOLIDWORKS Display States you might have a situation where a component needs to be hidden or shown in only a select few states.  Instead of activating each Display State one by one and hiding the component, you can use the Edit menu to hide the component in specified states.

In this example we have a miter saw with four Display States.  I’ve added a handle component and need this hidden in both the ‘Yoke Design’ and ‘Motor and Guard’ but remain visible in the others.

Simply select the component(s) to be hidden (or shown) and then go Edit menu > Hide > Specified Display States.  Below I’ve taken advantage of Breadcrumbs with the ‘D’ shortcut key to select the specific part.
