A new SOLIDWORKS 2019 Status Feedback dialog has been added to the new release.  Previously if SOLIDWORKS was working on a long process (i.e. during rebuild or open) and you click in the graphics area, a pop-up would indicate that the software had stopped responding.  This is actually a Microsoft Windows prompt where it thinks the application has stopped responding due to the length time the application is working in the background.  Windows is pretty quick on giving this prompt as it sometimes appears in seconds.

In a significant number of cases when this prompt is given, using ‘Wait for the program to respond’ will give it more time to complete the process successfully.  Don’t be fooled by Windows telling you the program stalled.  SOLIDWORKS 2019 has now changed the prompt so you’re not so quick on the ‘Close the program’ button.  You may just need to wait a little longer for the command to finish.

And if you need proof that SOLIDWORKS is still chugging away, jump into the Windows Task Manager and check the CPU utilized by the SOLIDWORKS application.
