Traveling Green with my iPhone

There are already a few thing
s that I do when I travel in order to be green. I bring my own soap & shampoo, turn off unused lights, put out the “Do Not Disturb” so that my bed is not every day and I turn down the heat to a comfortable level of 15 deg. But on my last trip I decided to take green one step further by not using a car.
The purpose of my last trip was for an Assembly Modeling course in Ottawa. My trip consisted of a train trip to Toronto, a flight on Porter airlines to Ottawa and a cab ride to my hotel. On the way back, from Toronto I caught a ride with my niece, who just happened to be going that way.
I was not able to stay at the hotel where I was teaching my class and this is where my iPhone was able to help me be green. Using my “Yellow Pages” app I found the address of the hotel I was traveling to. Using the same app I was able to bring up a map with directions. By viewing the map I determined that the distance was within walking distance and the map helped me navigate my way to the hotel. I was also able to bring up a bus schedule for the route to the hotel.
