One of the ways SOLIDWORKS Inspection makes the inspection process easier is by allowing you to import Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) data directly into the software to perform the inspection process. SOLIDWORKS Inspection allows you to import data from any CMM machine listed in the Template Control pull-down menu as well as any neutral file format.

Assigning CMM mapping to the ballooned characteristic can be done automatically using the smart “auto-assign” command. Select the “Item #” option if you have consistency between the CMM dimensions and the ballooned numbers, or other options as needed.

Assigning characteristics to dimensions can also be done from the Bill of Characteristics by right-clicking on the dimension and selecting “Find CMM data results”.
