The Design Library in the SOLIDWORKS Task Pane provides quick access to some default features, hardware, annotations, etc. This is also where you have access to SOLIDWORKS Toolbox, 3DContentCentral and SOLIDWORKS Content. Additionally folder locations can be added in the design library for quick access to your parts and assemblies.
Most often customers ask if they could show the description and file name for the parts, assemblies and drawings listed in the lower design library panel which makes it very easy for them to open particular files. The answer is yes.
With the SOLIDWORKS 2018 Design Library you can display file names or descriptions of reusable elements (such as features, sketches, parts or assemblies) in the lower panel.
To show file names and descriptions, Right-click in the lower panel of the Design Library, and click Show File Name or Show Description.
Previously, commands in this shortcut menu were limited to displaying Large Icons, Small Icons or Adding New Folders.
