SOLIDWORKS 2020 Save As Copy and Open: Close the Original Document Option

Article by John Lee, CSWE updated November 20, 2019

Article

SOLIDWORKS Save As Copy has always been a great option for managing references when creating copies of documents under new filenames.

In 2020, when doing a File > Save As… > Save As Copy and Open, we can now choose to close the original document in the message that pops up after we select Save.

This option can help free up memory and prevent clutter of too many open documents.

In addition, if we want to always choose this option, there is once again the handy checkbox for “Don’t show again in this session”.
