SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2016 Project Snapshot

In SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2015 we needed to make multiple copies of projects through the Project Manager. This created confusion when testing different design scenarios or if a user needed to modify the design based on a change request.

Management and Process Ribbon now includes Snapshot tools
In order to make it simpler for users, SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2016 has introduced a feature called Snapshot. A Snapshot is essentially a moment in time when a project was saved and can be restored at a later date if required.
The “Take a Snapshot” and “Snapshot manager” can be accessed or managed from the Process Ribbon.
The snapshot is created automatically under these conditions:
- User clicks on Take a Snapshot
- When a new revision index is created and the option is selected
- It can be automated to take a snapshot after a period of (days)
Note: The snapshot file extension is the same as project file extension, however it is managed separately through the application until it is restored as a project.
