What Is the SOLIDWORKS for Veterans Program?

The SOLIDWORKS Veterans Program provides eligible U.S. and Canadian military members with a 12‑month license of SOLIDWORKS Design Premium (Student Edition) at a heavily discounted rate.

This program is intended to help veterans:

Program Cost

Qualified veterans and active military members can purchase the SOLIDWORKS license for $20 USD or $40 CAD. This special pricing is available to U.S. and Canadian military personnel, including those on active duty, in the reserves, and veterans who are retired or honourably discharged.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • Active duty (U.S. or Canada)
  • Reserve military
  • Retired or honourably discharged veterans

Required Proof of Service

Examples include:

  • U.S. Military: DD214, DD256, DD257
  • Canada: NDI 75, CFOne Card, or CAF 75
  • Active Duty: Statement of Service with entry and end‑of‑service dates

These requirements match the official SOLIDWORKS documentation.

How to Apply

The application process is simple:

  1. Prepare your proof of military status (PDF format).
    US Military – please provide one of the following documents as an individual PDF:
    • DD Form 214: Certificate of Release or Discharge (U.S. Active Duty)
    • DD Form 256: Honourable Discharge Certificate (U.S. Guard and Reserve)
    • DD Form 257: General Discharge Certificate (U.S. Guard and Reserve)

    For active duty – Statement of Service: Verified by your Chain of Command must include the date of entry and end of service dates.

    Canadian Military – please provide one of the following documents as an individual PDF:

    • NDI 75 or CFOne Card replacing the NDI 75 (Effective Jan 1, 2016)
    • CAF 75 (Record of Service ID Card)
  2. Submit your application through the official SOLIDWORKS Veterans Program portal.
  3. Once approved, you will receive access to purchase and download your license.

All applicants must submit proof before completing the order.

Training Resources for Veterans

Veterans also receive access to MySolidWorks online training, which includes hours of self‑paced lessons covering:

  • CAD fundamentals
  • Simulation
  • Electrical design
  • CAM workflows
  • Certification prep

SOLIDWORKS provides these training resources at no additional cost to veterans.

Additional Support for Veteran Entrepreneurs

Veterans interested in launching a product‑based business may also qualify for the SOLIDWORKS Start‑up Program, which provides:
