In this edition of our “What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2019” video series, Senior Application Expert Angus Hudson reviews his favourite enhancements, and the flexibility they bring, allowing him to stay focused on his design rather than trying to remember how to use his software!
Multi-body Part Enhancements
SOLIDWORKS 2019 provides some great enhancements for multibody parts:
- You can use Interference Detection between bodies in multibody parts. This is helpful when checking that weldments are trimmed properly and before using Simulation tools.
- The Measure tool can now remain open while working in other tools. This applies to any tool in Part, Assembly or Drawing environments! With another tool open, the Evaluate tab will now show Measure is available. You can keep the Measure window open when switching between tools, features, parts/assemblies/drawings and it remains accessible. If you have the Measure tool open on screen and want to perform other tasks, like right-click on components to open, it may try to keep measuring items. No worries, just right-click and choose ‘Select’. This will make the Measure window inactive until you click it again.
